Trump warns Iran that US is ‘locked and loaded’ to ‘rescue’ any ‘peaceful protesters’ harmed
President Donald Trump warned Iran early Friday morning that its government would face consequences if any people protesting against Iran’s government were harmed.
Trump issued the warning to the Iranian government on his Truth Social account at 2:58 a.m. on Friday. He said the U.S. was “locked and loaded and ready to go” if Iran engaged in any nefarious violence against the protesters.
“If Iran shots [sic] and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue,” Trump said.
“We are locked and loaded and ready to go. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J.TRUMP,” the president posted.
Trump’s message comes after Iranians held protests in various areas throughout the country over economic woes related to the collapse of Iran’s national currency. At least six people were reportedly killed in demonstrations earlier in the week. It was unclear if the president’s warning included those who already died or any potential future fatalities. The demonstrations are the largest in the country since those held in 2022, according to the Associated Press. Those demonstrations occurred after a 22-year-old died in police custody.
Saeed Pourali, a deputy governor in Lorestan province, said the protests were due to “economic pressures” and were an expression of “livelihood concerns.”

“The protests that have occurred are due to economic pressures, inflation, and currency fluctuations, and are an expression of livelihood concerns,” Pourali told an Iranian news agency called the Student News Network.
“The voices of citizens must be heard carefully and tactfully, but people must not allow their demands to be strained by profit-seeking individuals.”
