A New Poll Shows Trump Leading Over Biden
A recent general poll has revealed that former President Donald J. Trump is currently enjoying a significant lead over current President Joe Biden.
The Washington Post and ABC released a poll on Sunday, which unveiled that if the 2024 presidential election were held today, Trump would defeat Biden with a 52% to 42% margin.
Respondents attributed Biden’s poor performance to his age and his unfavorable handling of the economy and the Mexico border.
The poll surveyed 1,006 adults from across the United States, reaching out to participants via landline or cellphone. It was conducted from September 15th to September 20th.
Once the results were made public, The Washington Post quickly dismissed the poll as an “outlier,” referring to two previous polls that showed the two hypothetical candidates in a dead heat.
The poll is “significantly at odds with other public polls that show the general election contest a virtual dead heat,” The Washington Post wrote in its analysis.
Currently, Biden’s approval rating stands at 37%. In the same poll, 44% of Americans stated that they are worse off financially under the Democrat’s leadership. This marks the lowest number any president has received since 1986.
Meanwhile, Trump is leading in every poll to be the Republican nominee.
In a 2024 National Republican Primary Poll by NBC News released on September 24th, Trump is dominating his competition. He has more than half of the vote when pitted against his GOP rivals. His closest contender is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), who only has 16% of the vote compared to Trump’s 59%.
