Trump Takes Aim At New York Judge’s Daughter Over Dem Clients

Former US President Donald Trump alleged bias on the part of acting New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan against him in his criminal case, citing the fact that his daughter, Loren Merchan, works for a firm that has done work for several top Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA). Trump posted a message on Truth Social, in which he also claimed that the judge’s family dislikes him and called for the case to be moved to Staten Island. The former president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., also shared a Breitbart News story on Loren Merchan’s history of working for Democratic campaigns. This move was criticized by journalist Glenn Kessler, who accused the two Trump sons of being irrelevant and attempting to bully the judge. He was then challenged by Miranda Devine who backed the Trump sons for posting a link to a reputable news organization.

Although there are indications that social media accounts linked to Loren Merchan have been deleted, it is clear from online reports that she became president of political digital communications firm Authentic Campaigns in 2020. The Authentic website also lists President Joe Biden’s White House campaign with Harris among its clients.

Trump has been charged with falsifying business records in relation to an alleged “catch-and-kill” scheme to influence the 2016 election. During his arraignment on Tuesday, prosecutors raised concerns about his social media rhetoric. The judge reportedly did not issue a gag order, but warned him not to make inflammatory comments. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and claimed he is the victim of a political witch hunt.
