Trump shuts down munitions shortage claims
President Donald Trump denied claims that the war in Iran has substantially depleted U.S. munitions stockpiles, asserting that the U.S. has “virtually unlimited” supplies of ammunition and is increasing production. He criticized reports and experts, calling them “treasonous” and suggesting they prefer the U.S.to lose rather than succeed. Trump highlighted that the U.S. is stockpiling munitions for potential future conflicts and will resume arms sales to allies soon.He also blamed the Biden administration for providing extensive defense aid to ukraine at no cost, claiming Biden transferred more munitions to ukraine than Trump used during his presidency. Despite his optimistic stance on munitions availability, a former government official acknowledged that U.S. armament levels are a concern, but efforts are underway to improve the situation.
President Donald Trump denied Thursday that the war in Iran has further depleted U.S. munitions stockpiles to dangerously low levels.
National security experts have sounded the alarm for years about U.S. armament readiness, first when former President Joe Biden surged defense support to Ukraine and again throughout Trump’s own campaign in the Middle East and military operations in Latin America.

In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump wrote Thursday morning that reporters and subject experts making the claims are “100% wrong” and “actually treasonous.”
“They do it because they would rather see the United States LOSE a War that we’re easily WINNING, than see me WIN!” he stated.
In a follow-up post addressed to “the treasonous SCUM that refuses to accurately report” on the Iran war, the president claimed that the United States has “virtually unlimited amounts of Mid to High Grade Ammunition, far more than we could ever use for this, or for any other War.”
“We are producing Munitions at levels never seen before. We are stockpiling and preparing for any contingency that could happen,” he continued. “We are taking them for ourselves, the U.S.A., rather than selling them to others, but the sales to Allies will soon again, begin.”
He also blamed the Biden administration for providing Ukraine defense aid “at no cost to them” and said Biden gave more munitions to Ukraine than Trump had used in Iran.
“Hundreds of Billions of Dollars was given to Ukraine and NATO, free of charge, that Europe would have paid for — If they were only asked,” he concluded. “We will be asking for that money, though somewhat belatedly!”

Despite the president’s claims, Robert Wilkie, a former undersecretary of war for personnel and readiness and the secretary of veterans affairs from Trump’s first term, told the Washington Examiner earlier this week that U.S. armament levels were a concern for the president’s transition team ahead of his January 2025 inauguration.
“It’s not new, and he inherited a disaster,” he told the Washington Examiner in an interview, noting that the president has taken actions to try to ramp up defense production. “We’re in a rough spot, but it’s a spot that can be corrected.”
