Trump says Israel and Iran discussing ‘immediate ceasefire’ despite strikes
President Donald Trump said Israel and Iran are again negotiating a ceasefire amid rising violence. He pointed to a missile strike by Iran against Israel on Sunday, followed by Israel’s Monday strike against an Iranian petrochemical site-its first direct actions against iran since early April.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that both sides want an immediate ceasefire and that final peace negotiations are underway, while the “blockade” would remain in effect until a final deal is reached. Earlier Monday, he added that Israel and Iran must stop shooting instantly.

Things should move quickly. Thank you for your attention to this matter!.”
Earlier Monday morning, Trump wrote that “Israel and Iran must immediately stop ‘shooting.’”
Trump has spent recent days and weeks clinging to hopes of negotiating a diplomatic end to the Iran war, despite negotiators failing to make substantive progress in the ongoing talks and steadily increasing violence from all involved parties.

Last week, he privately chastised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to jeopardize the ceasefire talks restarting the Lebanese offensive and cautioned his counterpart on Sunday not to strike Iran directly, warnings that Netanyahu ignored.
