Trump says Iran violated ceasefire with drone attacks on cargo ships

President Donald Trump criticized Iran for firing at least four one-way attack drones at ships in the Strait of Hormuz, considering it a “foolish violation” of a ceasefire agreement between the two countries. One drone struck a large cargo ship, causing damage, though the ship continued its journey, while three other drones were shot down. This incident was part of ongoing tensions despite recent negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, where an agreement was reached to ensure the free flow of commerce, among other points, as discussions on a broader nuclear deal continue. an update to this story is forthcoming.

President Donald Trump warned Iran that its shooting of four one-way attack drones at ships in the Strait of Hormuz was a “foolish violation” of the two countries’ memorandum of understanding.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran shot at least four One Way Attack Drones at Ships transversing the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday. “One of the Drones solidly hit the upper deck of a large and very expensive Cargo Carrying Ship. Damage was done, but the Ship was able to proceed on its way. We knocked down three other Drones. Obviously, this is a foolish violation of our Ceasefire Agreement.”

The free flow of commerce was one of the 14 points of understanding that the United States and Iran reached last week as negotiations continue for the next 60 days on a broader nuclear agreement.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
