Trump says Iran agreement ‘has been largely negotiated’ and opens Strait of Hormuz
President Donald Trump said the latest agreement to end the war involving Iran would eventually open the Strait of Hormuz,adding that the final details are still being negotiated and will be announced soon. The comment followed reports that the Trump governance was preparing for possible additional military strikes against Iran, during which Iran closed its western airspace until Monday.
Several GOP senators criticized the potential deal, arguing it might vrey well be pointless or further embolden Iran. Trump posted the announcement on Truth Social after discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Middle Eastern leaders, stating the agreement is still subject to finalization with the U.S., Iran, and additional countries, including negotiations tied to a memorandum of understanding on “PEACE.”

The announcement came after it was reported Friday the Trump administration was preparing “for a fresh round of military strikes against Iran.” Iran closed its western airspace yesterday and will keep it closed until Monday.

Multiple GOP senators weighed in on the potential deal Saturday. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) said the war would have been for nothing if the U.S. agrees to a deal, while Sen. Lindsey Graham said an agreement would further embolden Iran.

Trump made the announcement on Truth Social after speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and leaders from other Middle Eastern countries. He stated the deal is “subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries, as listed.”
Trump said he spoke with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan concerning Iran “and all things related to a Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to PEACE.”
