Trump says he will only accept Iran’s ‘UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER’
The piece reports that Donald Trump declared there will be no deal with Iran unless there is unconditional surrender, stated in a Truth Social post. He suggested that after surrender and the selection of a new leader approved by the U.S. and its allies, Iran could be helped to recover and become economically stronger. The article notes that the Trump governance had previously outlined objectives such as destroying Iran’s nuclear program and demilitarizing the regime, but the post makes clear that the end goal is regime change and the installation of a U.S.-supported leader. It also mentions Trump’s desire to be personally involved in selecting the next Iranian leader. The report describes Iranian retaliation in response to the conflict, including drone and missile strikes across multiple countries, potentially widening regional war. The piece includes a “Recommended Stories” section and a line asserting “Make Iran Great Again.”
Trump says there will be no deal with Iran outside of ‘UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER’
President Donald Trump laid out his first clear terms for the end of the war with Iran on Friday morning, saying he would accept nothing short of capitulation.
“There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “After that, and the selection of a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before.
“IRAN WILL HAVE A GREAT FUTURE. ‘MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!).’”
The Trump administration had previously laid out a list of objectives, including the destruction of Iran’s nuclear program and the Islamic Republic’s demilitarization, but it did not clearly lay out what the end goal was. His post makes clear that the United States and Israel’s operational goals are an end to Iran’s government altogether and the selection of a new leader approved by the U.S. and its allies.
TRUMP WANTS TO BE PERSONALLY ‘INVOLVED’ IN PICKING NEXT IRANIAN LEADER: REPORT
The announcement brings more clarity to the U.S. objective in Iran but also risks hardening the resolve of the embattled Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei and most of the country’s senior leadership were assassinated on the conflict’s first day in a series of blistering opening strikes that have continued unabated throughout the week. Iran has responded by firing drones and missiles at more than a dozen countries, leading to a wider regional war.
