Trump says ballroom project has ‘doubled’
Donald Trump said the White House ballroom project has “doubled” in size, defending the project’s changing costs while claiming it is still under budget and ahead of schedule. When a reporter pressed him, he snapped back angrily and the White House provided no clarification. The announcement also comes as Senate Republicans face pressure over a proposal to allocate billion in taxpayer money for security components of the project following an assassination attempt last month. Trump’s cost estimates have risen over time-from $200 million (said to be privately funded) to $300 million and later to $400 million.
President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that his ballroom project has “doubled” in size.
Speaking to the press before departing the White House for a visit to China, the president defended the fluctuating cost of the ballroom project.
