Former President Trump Targeted in Special Counsel Investigation
“I received a letter on July 17,” said Donald Trump, revealing that he is now a target of the special counsel investigation into the events of January 6.
The letter, sent by special counsel Jack Smith, gave Trump a mere four days to report to a grand jury. Concerned about the tight deadline, the former president took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to express his apprehension, suggesting that it could lead to his arrest and indictment.
Describing the letter as “HORRIFYING NEWS for our country,” Trump highlighted the additional pressure he faces with two other indictments looming over him during a fiercely contested presidential re-election campaign, where he has been a dominant force within the GOP.
Earlier this year, Trump faced charges in a New York state case related to non-disclosure agreement payments. Subsequently, he was also charged in a federal case in Miami for mishandling classified documents after his tenure in the White House.
