Trump posts video of ‘Kharg Island being blown to smithereens’
On Sunday, the United States conducted strikes against Iran on Laruck Island, marking the first such action in over a month. U.S. forces targeted Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) minelaying units in response to threats against maritime shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, which the U.S. claims to have cleared of mines previously. President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video on Truth Social depicting a bombing of Kharg Island, though no description has been provided for the post. During an interview,Trump expressed confidence in the progress of the military campaign, stating that Iran’s military capabilities-navy,air force, and leadership-are severely diminished and describing Iran as a “failing nation.” The overall tone indicates a belief that U.S. actions have substantially weakened Iran’s military strength and that the situation is under control.

The strikes on Laruck Island were the first against Iran in over a month. They came after U.S. intelligence witnessed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces preparing to deploy sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz, in an attempt to deter sea traffic and attack ships from passing through the critical nautical passage. The U.S. military claimed it cleared the Strait of mines last week.
U.S. Central Command explained the military action in a statement on Sunday.
“U.S. forces took limited, precise action against the IRGC minelaying forces posing an imminent threat in the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM said in a statement. “In essence, Iran created the threat, and the U.S. military eliminated it to protect civilian mariners, commercial shipping, and the free flow of global commerce.”
During an interview on “Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy,” which aired on Fox News on Sunday night, the president spoke about the war in Iran with the former congressman. He expressed optimism about the final result and lauded the progress made so far in the six-month military conflict.

“But we’re doing a great job,” Trump said. “The blockade has been unbelievable. The financial — the financial hits that we’re giving them, we’re hitting them very hard. Never — nobody’s ever been hit like this.”
“And they’re a failing nation right now,” the president added. “And at the right point, we’ll either win or they’ll do something. But, you know, I don’t mind winning, just winning. I don’t need a signature on a piece of paper.”
“But we’re doing very well,” Trump said. “Their navy’s gone. Their air force is gone. Their leaders are gone. Their — all of their anti-aircraft — I mean, it’s all wiped out. They’re tough people. They’re smart people. But they are very evil.”
