Trump sparks controversy with claim of purchasing Glock during gun shop visit.
Trump’s Gun Shop Visit Sparks Controversy
A campaign opportunity to showcase former President Donald Trump’s support for the Second Amendment misfired on Monday.
Trump made a surprise visit to Palmetto State Armory, a gun shop in Summerville, South Carolina, while he was campaigning in the state, according to CNBC.
During his visit, he became fascinated with a special “Trump edition” handgun that features his photo on the handle. The gun’s slide is emblazoned with the words “Trump 45”.
Curiously, Trump asked, “They sell well?” to which he was told they did. He confidently replied, “They like me.”
Expressing his interest, Trump declared, “I’m gonna buy one” and later added, “I want to buy one.” He also praised the Glock handgun, saying, “Isn’t Glock a great gun?”
Everything seemed fine until Trump’s representative, Steven Cheung, posted a video of Trump at the shop, a post he later deleted.
According to the New York Post, Cheung wrote, “President Trump purchases a @GLOCKInc in South Carolina!”
However, there was a problem. Federal law prohibits the sale of guns to individuals under felony indictment and those who are not eligible to receive a gun that has been transported across state or international borders, as reported by ABC.
Unsurprisingly, Trump’s critics, including his niece Mary L. Trump, seized on this potential legal issue. Mary tweeted, “The Trump supporter who posted the viral video of Donald insisting he wanted to buy a Glock – which legally could have gotten Donald in a lot of legal trouble – DELETED it.”
There is some ambiguity in this situation due to a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that has led to ongoing debates about gun regulations.
Later, Cheung clarified that Trump did not purchase a firearm at the armory in Summerville, South Carolina, on Monday, as reported by CNN.
Despite the controversy, Rep. -biden-impeachment-inquiry-vote-happens/” title=”Marjorie Taylor Greene demands Biden impeachment vote or threatens government shutdown.”>/hardball-marjorie-taylor-greene-threatens-government-shutdown-unless-biden-impeachment-inquiry-vote-happens/” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia posted a similar sentiment, expressing her support for Trump’s visit to the gun shop.
She tweeted, “President Trump doing a little shopping in South Carolina! He will protect our great Second Amendment!!”
It remains to be seen how this incident will unfold, but it has certainly ignited a heated debate.

What are the potential legal implications for selling a firearm to someone who is ineligible to receive it?
The truth. We are committed to providing our readers with accurate and unbiased news. In this case, the controversy surrounding Trump’s visit to the gun shop raises important questions about gun regulations and the potential legal implications for the former president.
Trump’s visit to Palmetto State Armory in Summerville, South Carolina, was intended to showcase his support for the Second Amendment. However, it quickly turned into a controversy when Trump expressed interest in purchasing a “Trump edition” handgun with his photo on the handle and the words “Trump 45” on the slide.
The controversy began when Trump’s representative, Steven Cheung, posted a video of Trump at the shop, stating that Trump had purchased a Glock handgun. This raised eyebrows because federal law prohibits the sale of guns to individuals who are under felony indictment or not eligible to receive a gun that has been transported across state or international borders.
This potential legal issue was seized upon by Trump’s critics, including his niece Mary L. Trump. She pointed out that selling a firearm to someone who is ineligible to receive it could have gotten Trump into legal trouble. Cheung later deleted the post, further fueling the controversy.
The situation is further complicated by a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that has led to ongoing debates about gun regulations. The ambiguity surrounding the legality of selling firearms adds another layer of complexity to this incident.
Ultimately, Cheung clarified that Trump did not purchase a firearm at the gun shop in Summerville. This raises the question of why the initial post claimed otherwise, and whether it was a misunderstanding or an intentional attempt to create a narrative.
Despite the controversy, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia voiced her support for Trump’s visit to the gun shop. She highlighted Trump’s commitment to protecting the Second Amendment.
As this incident unfolds, it is clear that it has ignited a heated debate about gun regulations and the potential legal implications for individuals seeking to purchase firearms. It remains to be seen how this controversy will play out and what consequences, if any, it will have for Trump and his supporters.
At The Western Journal, we believe in pursuing the truth and providing our readers with accurate and unbiased news. We will continue to follow this story closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.
