Trump demands ‘compensation’ for Americans killed by Iranian bombs
President Donald Trump announced that the United States will now include a demand for compensation from Iran in all future negotiations, specifically for victims harmed or killed by the Iranian regime or its proxies over the past 50 years. Iran responded by submitting its own demands, including full compensation for damages from U.S. bombing campaigns.Trump publicly stated that the U.S. did not previously discuss compensation during negotiations and emphasized his intention to seek recompense for Americans affected by Iran’s actions, including those killed on roadside bombs and in conflicts as Soleimani’s leadership, and also families of protesters killed over the last five decades.He instructed his team to incorporate these demands into negotiations. Since the collapse of the U.S.-Iran memorandum earlier in July,efforts to de-escalate have stalled. Trump also indicated that the U.S. is currently “low-keying” the war,allowing Iran’s economic issues to possibly bring Iran back to the negotiating table,viewing it as a strategic chess game.
President Donald Trump announced Monday that the United States will begin working a new demand into all future negotiations with Iran: compensation for the families of victims harmed or killed by the Iranian regime, or its proxies, over the past 50 years.
Over the weekend, Tehran submitted its own set of new demands for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which included complete compensation for damages wrought by the president’s bombing campaigns.

The U.S. did not publicly respond to Iran’s demands, but Trump himself wrote on social media that the subject was “never mentioned in any of our negotiations or meetings.
“Now I am likewise demanding compensation from Iran, for all of the people that they have killed and gravely wounded with their roadside bombs and many conflicts, for which they are famous, as led initially by General Soleimani, including the families of those killed on the USS Cole, and thousands of others killed in combat,” said in a post on Truth Social. “Additionally, compensation should be paid to the families of the hundreds of thousands of innocent protestors that Iran has killed over the last 50 years, not to mention the 52,000 that have been killed in the last five months.”
The president concluded by stating that he has “instructed” his negotiating team to “put this firmly into any, and all, future negotiations.”
Since the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding collapsed in early July, the president has struggled to make substantive progress toward ending the war.
On Sunday, he told Axios that the U.S. is now “low-keying” the war, suggesting he is willing to allow Iran’s economic constraints to bring it back to the negotiating table in time.

“We are only semi-negotiating with them,” the president said. “We are just watching Iran with its huge inflation and the fact they have no money. It will work out. It always works out. It’s like a chess game.”
