Trump appeals Clinton lawsuit over Russia ‘hoax’ to Supreme Court
President Donald Trump has called on the Supreme Court to reconsider a 2022 lawsuit in which he accused Hillary Clinton of conspiring with the FBI and other entities to sabotage his 2016 presidential campaign. Trump alleges that Clinton coordinated with then-FBI Director James Comey and the Democratic National Committee to create false claims of his collusion with Russia to influence the election. A Florida federal judge dismissed the lawsuit last year, supporting the “Russia hoax” narrative and ordering Trump’s team to pay nearly $1 million in sanctions.
President Donald Trump on Friday asked the Supreme Court to reinstate a lawsuit he filed in 2022, accusing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of conspiring with the FBI and other power players to smear his first presidential campaign.
Trump has alleged that in order to sabotage his 2016 presidential campaign, Clinton coordinated with then-FBI Director James Comey and the Democratic National Committee to fabricate claims that Trump’s team worked with Russia to rig the election in his favor. In a ruling backed up last year by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, a federal judge in Florida in 2022 tossed Trump’s lawsuit on the Russia “hoax,” ordering the president’s team to pay nearly $1 million in sanctions.
