Tom Cruise Releases Footage Of ‘Most Dangerous’ Stunt He’s Ever Attempted For New ‘Mission: Impossible’ Film

Legendary actor Tom Cruise gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at how he executed what he called “the most dangerous” stunt that he’s ever attempted for the newest film in the Mission Impossible movie franchise.

The clip that Cruise shared on social media previews a stunt from his upcoming summer 2023 movie “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One” that features a dangerous motorcycle cliff jump.

“This is far and away the most dangerous thing we’ve ever attempted,” Cruise said. “We’ve been working on this for years. We’re going to shoot it in Norway and it will be a motorcycle jump off a cliff into a base jump. I’ve wanted to do it since I was a little kid. And it all comes down to one thing — the audience.”

The clip outlines the extraordinary preparation that went into the scene, including conducting hundreds of parachute jumps from a helicopter and thousands of motocross jumps on dirt tracks constructed solely for Cruise to practice on.

“Don’t be careful,” Cruise said. “Be competent.”

Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie said, “The only thing that scares me more is what we have planned for ‘Mission 8,’” which will be part two of the movie, which is set to be released in 2024.

Cruise generated headlines earlier this week when he released a video thanking fans who went to the movies over the summer to see “Top Gun: Maverick.”

The movie grossed more than $1.4 billion at the global box office and more than $690 million domestically after three months in theaters, making it one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, Variety reported back in September.

“Hey everyone, here we are over sunny South Africa,” Cruise said in the new video while sitting on the edge of a helicopter. “And we’re filming ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’ parts one and two.”

“I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theaters, and thank you for supporting ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’” he said.

Cruise then introduced Christopher McQuarrie, the writer and director of “Dead Reckoning,” who told Cruise that he had to wrap it up because they were on a tight filming schedule.

“Listen, we really gotta roll, we gotta get this shot,” McQuarrie said.

“Oh ya, we’re filming,” Cruise responded. “We gotta get this shot. Are you coming?”

“Not on your life,” McQuarrie answered. “Good luck.”

“We’ll see you down there,” Cruise said as he jumped out of the helicopter.

“Where was I?” Cruise says as he looks at the camera and falls through the sky. “Oh, yeah. Thank you for supporting ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’ As always, thank you for allowing us to entertain you. It truly is the honor of a lifetime. Yeah, very lucky.”

“I’m running out of altitude, so I better get back to work,” Cruise said as he broke away from the camera and headed straight toward the ocean. “We gotta get this shot. You have a very safe and happy holiday. We’ll see you at the movies.”
