Tom Cruise Jumps From Helicopter To Thank Fans Who Saw ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ In Theaters: ‘Honor Of A Lifetime’

Legendary actor Tom Cruise filmed a special thank you message released over the weekend to fans who watched “Top Gun: Maverick” in theaters over the summer.

The movie grossed more than $1.4 billion at the global box office and more than $690 million domestically after three months in theaters, making it one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, Variety reported back in September.

“Hey everyone, here we are over sunny South Africa,” Cruise said in the new video while sitting on the edge of a helicopter. “And we’re filming ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’ parts one and two.”

“I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theaters, and thank you for supporting ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’” he said.

Cruise then introduced Christopher McQuarrie, the writer and director of “Dead Reckoning,” who told Cruise that he had to wrap it up because they were on a tight filming schedule.

“Listen we really gotta roll, we gotta get this shot,” McQuarrie said.

“Oh ya, we’re filming,” Cruise responded. “We gotta get this shot. Are you coming?”

“Not on your life,” McQuarrie answered. “Good luck.”

“We’ll see you down there,” Cruise said as he jumped out of the helicopter.

“Where was I?” Cruise says as he looks at the camera as he falls through the sky. “Oh, yeah. Thank you for supporting ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. As always, thank you for allowing us to entertain you. It truly is the honor of a lifetime. Yeah, very lucky.”

“I’m running out of altitude, so I better get back to work,” Cruise said as he broke away from the camera and headed straight toward the ocean. “We gotta get this shot. You have a very safe and happy holiday. We’ll see you at the movies.”
