Tiny Township Declares Itself a Second Amendment Sanctuary, Establishes Militia

You don’t have to be big to stand tall. Just⁤ ask ⁤Holton Township, Michigan, a community of 2,586 people that has boldly adopted a Second Amendment Resolution, declaring itself‍ a Second Amendment Sanctuary.

The township, located a little over 200 miles northwest of Detroit, recently passed resolutions to establish‍ its own militia and protect residents’ rights, according to the Daily Mail.

Township ⁣Supervisor Alan Jager emphasized ‍the importance of due process and preventing the violation of citizens’ rights, stating, “Whether they’re trying to pass something where they’re taking your rights away without you having due process. ⁣And I want you to be able to have due process.”

One of the catalysts for this action was Michigan’s red flag law, which allows the court to confiscate guns from individuals deemed high-risk. Jager expressed concerns⁢ about the ease with which guns could ⁣be taken away,⁢ stating, “All you had to do is go to the right court: you’re going to get⁢ the judge to do it.”

The township’s militia aims‍ to provide protection to‌ gun owners rather ‍than patrol the‌ area. Jager clarified their ‍intentions, stating, “We’re not trying ‍to⁤ skirt anything. ‌We’re just trying to make it so you have a fighting chance if you ever go to court. They can’t just take your‌ guns away because you belong to a militia ‍like the‌ United States government says we have a right to do.”

The resolution to become a Second Amendment Sanctuary, which pays homage to the Second Amendment, pledges to oppose any unconstitutional restrictions on Second Amendment rights.

With a nod to the Founding Fathers, the resolution‍ declares the township’s commitment to upholding the inalienable rights, freedom, and ‌liberty⁢ guaranteed by the Constitution ⁣of the United‌ States of ⁢America.

In an addendum titled the Militia Public Safety ‍Act, the township outlines the requirements to join the militia and vows to resist any new ⁣laws associated ⁣with red flag laws or any other infringements on the Second Amendment.
