Sen. Tim Scott Reveals Relationship Status Amidst Questions About Marriage
In a recent interview, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) addressed the speculation surrounding his marital status, confirming that he is currently in a relationship with a woman. The Republican presidential candidate opened up about this topic during a conversation with Brian Kilmeade, who had raised concerns raised by major GOP donors.
According to a report from Axios, it has been 139 years since an unmarried presidential candidate has been elected to the highest office in the nation. This statistic has fueled curiosity and discussion around Scott’s personal life.
During the interview, Scott proudly shared, “Well, obviously, at this point I’m taken. I have a wonderful girlfriend, and we have a wonderful relationship. The good news is, God has blessed me with a smart Christian woman. That’s great news.”
Scott believes that his unmarried status has garnered attention because his opponents view him as a political threat, especially as he continues to rise in the polls. While national polling has shown his campaign stagnating in the 2%-4% range for months, Scott remains focused on delivering an optimistic and positive message to the American people.
He stated, “The headlines are there because as I rise in the polls, as people show up at my town halls, it scares even my opponents. Everybody wants to find a way to win this race. I’m going to focus on having that optimistic positive message deliver the backbone and staying focused on the American people who say they like me a lot, and I want to make sure they have a chance to make me their president.”
Scott assured that the media will eventually have the opportunity to meet his girlfriend, further emphasizing the importance of his relationship in his personal and political life.
