Tim Ballard attends conference on Biden administration’s duty to locate missing children.
Former Homeland Security Agent Tim Ballard Joins Rep. Chris Smith in Fight to Find Missing Children
Former Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard made a powerful appearance at a conference held by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) on Tuesday. The conference introduced legislation that would require the Biden administration to locate the 85,000 missing children in the United States.
Rep. Smith, a passionate advocate for trafficking victims, announced last month that he was preparing this crucial legislation.
A Hero’s Journey
Ballard, who has rescued thousands of children from human trafficking, was invited to the conference by Rep. Smith. After leaving his federal agent position, Ballard founded Operation Underground Railroad, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating sex trafficking. His incredible story was recently depicted in the film Sound of Freedom, which has raised awareness about the horrifying reality of child trafficking worldwide.
“I propose to you that foreign children are children of God, just as much as any American child is a child of God,” Ballard passionately stated. “And they deserve the exact same protection that any U.S. child should deserve. Background checks, DNA tests, the whole gambit. We cannot release these children into the United States. 85,000 are missing, and we have the Biden administration to thank for that. But thanks to Congressman Smith and the sponsors of this bill, we are going to find those children. We are going to prevent any other child from enduring the horrors of modern-day slavery in our nation.”
Protecting Vulnerable Lives
Rep. Smith’s legislation aims to locate, establish contact with, conduct wellness checks, and investigate trafficking cases involving the 85,000 immigrant children. Last month, the congressman emphasized the need to protect these children from traffickers.
In addition to attending the conference, Ballard will testify before Congress on Wednesday and Thursday. His testimony on Wednesday will be before the House’s Homeland Security Committee, followed by Thursday’s testimony before the House’s Foreign Affairs Committee, as stated in a press release.

A Film That Inspires Change
The film Sound of Freedom tells the true story of Ballard’s courageous decision to leave his DHS job and risk his life by venturing into the jungles of Colombia to save children from sex slavery. Portrayed by Jim Caviezel, Ballard’s heroic journey has captivated audiences and surpassed the box office success of major films like the latest Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible movies.
