Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha said professional golfer Tiger Woods thinks he’s “above everything,” after body camera footage of Woods’ car crash showed him saying he was on the phone with President Donald Trump to the police.
Concha said Woods acts this way because of his successful career and celebrity status.
“Given the fact he says he calls the president, tells us he thinks because of his name, his place in the world as one of the most recognized figures, not only in sports, but on planet Earth, that he is above everything,” Concha said on Fox News’s Hannity.
“That’s just a quadruple bogey way of thinking,” Concha said.
Woods was arrested on March 28 for a DUI charge and pleaded not guilty after he rolled his SUV over near his Florida home around 2 p.m. He was later released that same day.
Following the crash, Woods announced he plans to “step away” from golf to seek treatment. This is the fourth car crash the golf star has been involved in over the years.
Concha said if it weren’t for Woods’ DUIs, he would’ve been “crowned” the best golfer of all time.
“Everybody thought he would be crowned the greatest golfer of all time, a transformative figure to sports, in the same sentence as Michael Jordan,” Concha said. “And then he just blew it all up. Not once, not twice, but several times where clearly he has been impaired while driving.
“And he’s lucky that no one got killed, including himself, in these horrible situations,” Concha said.
Concha highlighted other analysts’ comments, who have criticized Woods for not hiring a driver despite being able to afford one.
“It’s 100% dead on that Tiger can afford to have a guy named Jeevz be his driver or call an Uber when he wants to get around,” Concha said.
An arrest affidavit noted that Woods allegedly carried two hydrocodone pills in his left pocket following the crash.
Police described Woods as having “bloodshot and glassy” eyes with “extremely dilated” pupils at the time of the crash, while also noting the golfer exhibited “lethargic and slow” movements.

Concha instructed Woods to take a break from golf and focus on his family, saying he hopes the golfer gets “the help that he needs.”
“Don’t play any golf anytime soon,” he said. “Think of your family, and think of yourself, because clearly this guy has had a problem for many many, not years, maybe even decades.”
