‘Three Years Is Not Enough’: Liberal Wisconsin Supreme Court Candidate Ignored Victim’s Plea To Lock Up Serial Sex Offender

The offender who assaulted an young girl while on parole received no other prison time from Janet Protasiewicz.

Janet Protasiewicz participated in the March 21 candidates’ discussions.

A sequential child sex criminal who assaulted an young lady while on parole received no other prison time from Janet Protasiewicz, a liberal Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate.

Alfonso McCormick, 41 at the time, was on probation for a recent children sex conviction when he was accused of groping 15-year-old in 2020. However, Protasiewicz, the circuit court judge in charge of the 2020 case, declined to give McCormick a longer prison sentence than the three year he had already been sentenced to when his pardon was revoked.

According to court documents, McCormick” asked” the victim how old she was while he was at a family gathering at her home, and she” told him she’s 15.” He now” grabbed her arm” and” pulled her into the bathroom ,” where he stroked her neck and requested that she remove her garment. When the lady told many adults that she had escaped the place, the police were called.

During the sentencing hearing, the victim spoke in an emotional courtroom address, saying,” I honestly feel like three decades is not enough.” Because I have a police up, I feel as though I am experiencing total panic attacks.

The case joins a growing number of instances of convicted sexual assaulters who left Protasiewicz’s court after serving little to no time in prison, including one in which the perpetrator later committed drunken driving fatalities. Dan Kelly, Protasiewicz’s traditional administrative rival, has criticized her record. The two’s April 4 competition, which will determine whether the top state top court splits ideologically, has already broken U.S. spending records for condition judicial campaigns and could have for ramifications for the 2024 presidential elections.

This year, Protasiewicz claimed that in situations where victims were hesitant to appear in court, she was occasionally compelled to impose gentle words.

During a discussion with Kelly on Tuesday, Protasiewicz said,” Those are challenging cases in sexual assault cases.” ” Those sufferers usually don’t want to appear in court.” There are a lot of retractions.

According to court records, McCormick had already served about 16 years in prison for a 1995 first-degree sexual assault conviction involving” a little younger boy” at the time of the 2020 event. McCormick’s pardon was revoked by an administrative courtroom following the assault in 2020, and he was given a further three years and three months in prison.

Lawyers in Wisconsin already took up the case. McCormick admitted guilt to children temptation in 2021, a cost that can result in up to 25 years in prison in Wisconsin. Protasiewicz gave him a three-year prison sentence to perform at the same time with the parole revocation sentence, which would not increase the amount of time he was currently serving in jail.

Because the trial didn’t run criminal interviews with the suspect and might have trouble proving the case in court, Protasiewicz said she thought the sentence was considerable.

During the March 2021 punishment hearing, the suspect spoke to the court and her attacker, expressing her opinion that the justice system didn’t care about her case.

She remarked,” I feel like we would take it a little harder if I were someone else’s child, or someone knew me personally.”

The mother of the girl also begged Protasiewicz to extend McCormick’s statement, asking the judge to consider the possibility that the sufferer was” one of your sons, and this person really kept doing the same crime over and over again.”

Period, she said,” He may not be on the streets at all.” ” Three centuries is nothing because, as you can see from his rap sheet, he has already been in trouble for having a child in the same situation.”

Since the assault, the lady claimed, her sister has avoided men and even tried to end her life.

” All they give you is three years ,” you say? In the court, the child addressed McCormick and said,” You totally messed up my child imagination absolutely.”
