Three Soldiers Dead After Apache Helicopters Crash In Alaska

Tragedy Strikes Again: Three Army Soldiers Killed in Helicopter Crash

Heartbreaking news out of Alaska as three Army soldiers lost their lives in a helicopter crash following a training exercise. The crash involved two AH-64 Apache helicopters from the 11th Airborne Division’s 25th Aviation Regiment and occurred near Healy, Alaska.

According to Captain Molly Treece, one of the pilots died while being transported to the hospital while the other two died at the scene of the crash. The survivor was transported to a hospital in Fairbanks.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the crash is currently being investigated by experts from the Army Combat Readiness Center in Fort Novosel. The names of the soldiers who died will not be disclosed until their families have been notified.

This is the second Army helicopter crash in Alaska this year, with an incident in February when two soldiers were injured shortly after an Apache took off from Talkeetna and the helicopter crashed.

Army Offers Support

Maj. Gen. Brian Eifler, commanding general of the 11th Airborne Division, expressed his condolences in a statement from the Army, saying, “This is an incredible loss for these soldiers’ families, their fellow soldiers, and for the division. Our hearts and prayers go out to their families, friends, and loved ones, and we are making the full resources of the Army available to support them.”

Previous Tragedy

Sadly, this is not the first time the Army has experienced such a tragedy. Last month, nine service members lost their lives in a Black Hawk helicopter crash during a training exercise in Kentucky. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of all those affected by these heartbreaking incidents.
