3 men in Chicago arrested for illegal possession of firearms, released on bond.

Illegal Firearms in Chicago: Just One of the Many Problems

The Incident

On December 16th, Cook County Sheriff and Chicago Police Department cars caused quite a stir when they rushed to the Godfrey Hotel at Huron and LaSalle. Everyone was curious about what was going on. Was it Barack and Michelle? The Blues Brothers? Nope. It was just three guys from Kentucky in a car with illegal weapons. And the worst part? They were released on I-bonds by Judge William Fahy.

The Problem

This incident highlights one of the many problems with Chicago. Three adult males in an out-of-state car with illegal firearms were released on personal recognizance bonds in a black-on-black murder city. The Cook County Sheriff’s press release makes it clear that they weren’t CCW permit holders or just passing through town. They were charged with felony firearms charges, but they were still released. This incident raises questions about the judge, the Cook County DA, and the potentially catastrophic IL Safe-T Act which took effect in January.

The Bigger Picture

Chicago has its own homegrown guy-with-gun problem that they need to get a handle on. The recent shooting of a young black male by Chicago PD highlights the issue. The police officers asked him to put down his weapon, but he didn’t understand them. It’s like cops are speaking Venusian or something. He was shot and killed, and the liberal media is portraying him as the victim of police brutality.

Chicago doesn’t need to encourage more carnage by importing gunslingers from neighboring states who are out for a thrill ride and merely get turned loose if they live to get caught. This is just one of the many problems with Chicago, and it’s only going to get worse if they continue to turn a blind eye to the issues at hand.
