Conservative radio host Larry Elder, businessman‍ Perry Johnson, and Pastor Ryan Binkley have all invested a minimum of $100,000 in ads that aired last ⁢week, as reported by ​NBC News. In a‍ powerful ad that aired last week, Elder declared,​ “The RNC is scared because they know I will talk about difficult issues: The epidemic of fatherlessness, ⁤my proposal‍ to fire George Soros-backed [district attorneys], and the lie that America is systemically racist.⁣ To make the debate stage in September, I ⁢need ​your help.” With a total ad spend of $163,000 ‍from Sept.⁤ 11 through Sept. 17, Elder targeted major cities such as Miami, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Philadelphia, leaving a lasting impression.

Johnson, on the other hand, significantly increased his ad ‌spending​ by four times during the same period, totaling ⁤$458,000. This surge ⁣in investment ⁣made him the second-largest ad spender among GOP candidates,⁤ trailing only‍ behind Sen. Tim Scott​ (R-SC). ‍Meanwhile, Binkley, with a respectable $202,000⁤ spent ​on ads⁤ last week, emerged as the second highest spender among the trio.

Both Johnson and Binkley ‍strategically allocated their funds towards national ad campaigns, aiming to boost their national polling numbers and meet the⁤ debate criteria. ​To qualify, candidates must⁢ secure ‍3% of the votes in two national polls or two early state polls, along with one national poll, by the Sept. 25 deadline. Additionally, both candidates have successfully reached the $50,000 ⁤donor threshold, demonstrating their growing support.

The⁢ highly anticipated second debate is scheduled to take place in Simi Valley, California, on Sept. 27, 2023. While front-runner former President Donald Trump has announced his decision not to⁢ attend, despite qualifying, the stage will still feature prominent figures such ⁢as Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Vice President Mike Pence, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
