Chris Murphy’s Insane Claim About the Supreme Court

Recently, Chris Murphy appeared on MSNBC with Mehdi Hasan to discuss the left’s coordinated smear campaign against the legitimacy of the judicial branch of the US government. During the discussion, Murphy made an insane claim that the Supreme Court is the new right-wing legislature for the country.

What is Murphy Talking About?

Murphy’s claim is baseless and misleading. The Supreme Court has never banned abortion or made any requirement eviscerating voting rights laws. Roe v. Wade created a “right” that is not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution and decreed it the law of the land without a debate or vote. The left has been relying on the court to bypass the electorate for decades.

Murphy’s problem is not that the court is negligent, but that it occasionally upholds constitutional limits on state and majoritarian power, which is the job of the judiciary.

The Real Insurrection

Michael Smith’s Substack article, “The Real Insurrection,” sums up the danger of delegitimizing the Supreme Court. If successful, it would ruin the last remaining institution that contains unfettered statism and open the floodgates for government abuse, destabilizing the nation in unprecedented ways.

Conclusion

Murphy’s claim is dangerous and baseless. It is an effort far more dangerous to American “democracy” than any of the boogeymen that are supposed to keep us up at night. We must protect the legitimacy of the Supreme Court and uphold constitutional limits on state and majoritarian power.
