Chris Christie enters Republican race for presidency, making it 11 candidates.

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Joins Presidential Race

Exciting news from Manchester, New Hampshire! Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has officially joined the race for the Republican nomination for the presidency, making him one of ten candidates vying for the top spot.

“Beware of a leader that never made a mistake, never did anything wrong; and when something goes wrong, it’s someone else’s fault.”

Christie, a two-term governor and former federal prosecutor, made the announcement on June 6th in New Hampshire, a state considered to be a make-or-break location for presidential candidates. As the state with the longstanding First In The Nation (FITN) Primary status, New Hampshire holds a tight grip on the nomination process.

Christie Takes on Trump

Leading up to his announcement, Christie wasted no time attacking the Republican frontrunner, former President Donald Trump. Calling him a “self-serving mirror hog” and a “narcissist,” Christie cautioned the audience to be wary of a leader who never admits to making mistakes. He even poked fun at Trump’s campaign promise to build a wall on the U.S.–Mexican border, saying, “We haven’t gotten one peso.”

Christie, who has adopted a “Tell It Like It Is” campaign slogan, didn’t shy away from discussing his own mistakes. When asked about his biggest mistake as an elected official, he immediately named the “Bridgegate” scandal, calling it “humiliating” and the biggest shock of his life. The scandal left Christie plagued for years with the suspicion that he lied about his involvement in shutting down lanes during rush hour traffic on the heavily congested George Washington Bridge leading into New York as political payback to a Democrat mayor who didn’t endorse his re-election campaign.

Christie’s Appeal to Voters

Despite his past controversies, Christie has already won over some New Hampshire residents. Former state Rep. J.P. Marzullo admires Christie for being a successful Republican in a blue state like New Jersey and finds him straightforward. Nancy Ryan, a registered Democrat, and Marie Mulroy, an Independent, appreciate Christie’s genuine interactions with voters, unlike some other rehearsed candidates.

As the race heats up, it will be interesting to see how Christie’s campaign progresses and whether he can overcome his past scandals to win over voters.

  • Will Christie’s “Tell It Like It Is” approach resonate with voters?
  • Can he overcome the Bridgegate scandal and other controversies?
  • Will he be able to stand out among the crowded field of Republican candidates?

Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: the race for the Republican nomination just got a lot more interesting with Christie’s entry into the fray.
