The people ‘trying to murder President Trump are stupid’: Tiana Lowe Doescher
Tiana Lowe Doescher, an economics columnist for the *washington Examiner*, said the U.S. is “incredibly lucky” that President Donald Trump remains alive despite multiple assassination attempts. She argued the threat coudl be even worse and suggested Trump might potentially be safest only in venues he can control-especially pointing to the White House and Mar-a-Lago as relatively secure locations.
The article also discusses the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the washington Hilton, where a gunman fired shots after getting past security. The Secret Service quickly moved to protect Trump and cabinet members. Federal prosecutors say the shooter, Cole Allen, arrived with a shotgun, a handgun, and knives, and was charged with attempting to assassinate the president. His alleged “manifesto” referenced purportedly lax security.
After the incident, Trump praised the authorities and used it to argue for building a large, secure White House ballroom. The piece further notes Doescher’s criticism of Jimmy kimmel’s prior late-night comments about the first lady, and Trump and Melania Trump’s subsequent attacks on Kimmel, which Kimmel responded to by framing his comments as a joke/roast.

The White House Correspondents’ Association dinner took a turn Saturday when a gunman stormed past security and fired gunshots inside the hotel. The Secret Service stormed the stage to protect Trump and Cabinet members.
The shooter, Cole Allen, 31, arrived with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives, intending to target members of the administration, said U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro. He was charged Monday with attempting to assassinate the president.
Allen’s alleged manifesto also cited what it described as relaxed security measures at the Washington Hilton, where the dinner took place.
Doescher said the situation could have been much scarier.
“He booked his hotel stay three weeks ago,” she said. “He did a cross-continental train trip in order to get here, so if he had been smart enough and he had been thinking of bombs?”
She argued that Trump “probably cannot be in venues he cannot control.”
“At this point, Mar-a-Lago is probably the second safest place for him after the White House,” Doscher said. “It’s not just, ‘Oh, Donald Trump is mean, and the media says that he’s bad and orange and hates immigrants.’ No. [The gunman] was radicalized.”
After the assassination attempt, Trump applauded the authorities who kept him safe and argued that it underscores why the construction of his White House ballroom should continue.
“What happened last night is exactly the reason that our great Military, Secret Service, Law Enforcement and, for different reasons, every President for the last 150 years, have been DEMANDING that a large, safe, and secure Ballroom be built ON THE GROUNDS OF THE WHITE HOUSE,” Trump said on Truth Social.
Doescher also criticized late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel’s comedy skit last week when — before the assassination attempt — he called the first lady an “expectant widow.”

Trump fired back at Kimmel on Truth Social and called for ABC to fire him. The first lady called Kimmel a “coward” on X.
Kimmel addressed the comments and argued that it was a slight roast about Trump’s age.
