The Chosen Television Series Granted Waiver to Continue Filming
The Chosen television series, a crowdfunded show that delves into the life of Jesus Christ, has received exciting news amidst the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strike in Hollywood. Despite many other productions being forced to halt, The Chosen has been granted a waiver from the Screen Actors Guild, allowing them to continue filming their next season.
“Great news! We just received word from SAG that we have been approved for a waiver. We’ll continue shooting on Monday,” the show announced on social media.
The Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists has made it known that they are willing to grant waivers to independent productions that sign “interim agreements” with the union. The terms of these agreements may vary for smaller budget projects. The Chosen, currently in the midst of filming its fourth season, has stated that they have agreed to all of SAG’s requests. It’s worth noting that the fourth season is entirely independent and funded solely by donations, just like its predecessors.

The Chosen has captivated over 110 million viewers across 175 countries, and its creators have ambitious plans to make the show available in 600 languages. Lionsgate, the renowned studio and distributor behind the movie Jesus Revolution, recently acquired the worldwide sub-licensing distribution rights to The Chosen. As a result, the first three seasons will soon be airing on The CW, reaching an even wider audience.
The writers’ and actors’ strike has had a significant impact on the entertainment industry, causing delays in the production of various movies and television shows. Notable examples include Deadpool 3 and Netflix’s Cobra Kai. Barry Diller, former CEO of Paramount Pictures, has expressed concerns about the potential “devastating effects” if the strikes are not resolved promptly.
