Texas Rep rejects ‘gender affirming care,’ opposes daughters changing in front of biological men.
Representative Wesley Hunt (R-Tx) Slams “Gender Affirming Care” During Hearing
During a recent hearing by the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government, Representative Wesley Hunt (R-Tx) passionately criticized the concept of “gender affirming care.” He expressed his concern for the well-being of children, stating that his own daughters “will not change in front of biological men.” Hunt emphasized the importance of protecting children and vowed to do everything in his power to ensure their safety.
The hearing featured testimonies from various individuals, including former female college athlete Paula Scanlan, who was forced to compete alongside a trans-identifying male swimmer, Lia Thomas. Detransitioner Chloe Cole also shared her experiences, highlighting the failures of the medical healthcare system.
As a combat veteran, Hunt acknowledged the importance of personal autonomy for adults. However, he firmly believed that when it comes to children, a different approach is necessary. He criticized the American medical establishment for what he deemed as an excessive focus on gender dysphoria in children, referring to it as “child mutilation.” Hunt pointed out that other countries, such as Finland, Sweden, France, and the U.K., are reevaluating their approaches and questioning the prevailing narrative.
During the hearing, Hunt made a powerful statement directed at Scanlan, expressing his commitment to protecting his daughters. He vehemently declared that his young daughters would not change in front of biological men, emphasizing his belief that this situation is absurd.

Hunt emphasized that he was not concerned with political affiliations, stating that anyone who believes in the biological differences between individuals has “literally lost their mind.” He asserted that his daughters, like other young women, deserve the opportunity to compete against their peers in a fair and equal manner.
Looking towards the future, Hunt expressed his determination to rectify the current situation. He urged the country to come together and address these issues in 2024, emphasizing the need to put an end to what he referred to as “foolishness.”

Scanlan, in her testimony, revealed that her concerns about competing alongside Thomas were ignored by the University of Pennsylvania. Cole also expressed her disappointment with the medical healthcare system, stating that it had failed her on every level.
