Ted Cruz slams FBI over Biden investigation: ‘Senior leadership believes they’re unaccountable’
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed the FBI for “utterly and completely stonewalling” the investigation into what he alleges is a “criminal bribery scheme” involving President Joe Biden and a “foreign national.”
“They’re covering up,” Cruz told Hannity, detailing the several questions he asked FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate. “He refused to answer. They are utterly and completely stonewalling.”

On Tuesday, Abbate appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee. When asked about whether the FBI had an FD-1023 form containing what some allege is evidence of bribery involving the Biden family, whether the federal agency had investigated the allegation, and if the FBI would hand over related documents and audio recordings, Abbate refused to comment.
“I’m just not going to comment on information we’ve received, investigations,” Abbate told Cruz. “This is an area I’m not going to get into.”
Reflecting on the exchange, Cruz told Hannity there is no legal reason to withhold information.
“There’s no legal barrier,” Cruz said. “He’s simply sitting there with that smug smirk on his face because the FBI senior leadership believes they’re unaccountable — they’re not accountable to Congress, they’re not accountable to the American people.”
Cruz called upon Biden to stop “mocking the American people” and address the allegation.

“I don’t know whether it is true or false that Biden, in fact, took this bribe,” Cruz said. “But you know who knows to 100% certainty? Joe Biden. And if it’s false, he could call on the FBI. He could direct the FBI, hand over the 1023, hand over the 17 voice recordings because ‘they will exonerate me and demonstrate my innocence.’ He’s not doing that.”
“And these allegations, if true, Joe Biden should be impeached, he should be removed from office, he should be prosecuted, and he should go to prison,” Cruz said.
