Ted Cruz Rips Democrats For Toting Ukraine Flags: ‘A Ukrainian Flag Is Like A COVID Mask’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), criticized leftists in an episode of his podcast this Week for virtue signaling by toting Ukrainian flags around, saying that the Ukrainian flag had become the new COVID mask.

Cruz made the comments while speaking on his podcast “Verdict” Ben Ferguson, co-host, discusses the need to hold Biden accountable for the seemingly endless amount of resources it is giving Ukraine.

“We don’t have nearly as much accountability as we need,” Cruz said. “The Biden administration is not providing the missiles that could take out those Iranian drones. Because their [the Biden admin’s] priority is kissing up to the Ayatollah and entering into a new nuclear deal with the Ayatollah, even if it undermines U.S. national security. At the same time, the billions that are going to the Ukrainian government that are not going for ammunition, not going for weapons, but instead are just going for general economic support, there is very little transparency, very little accountability as to where that money is going.”

Cruz claimed that the congressional support for Ukraine’s regular sending of billions of money was quickly ending, now that Republicans are more powerful in Washington, D.C. following the midterm election.

“With a Republican majority in the House, I think you’re going to see much more scrutiny on what funds are going,” Cruz said. “I think there will still be a willingness to provide actual weaponry, to provide ammunition or weapons that the Ukrainians can use to defend themselves. I think there will be very little interest in unrestrained checks going to the government of Ukraine.”

“I also think the focus needs to be on what our strategic national objective is. … For the Democrats, this has become a virtue signal. For the Democrats, they wear a Ukrainian flag,” He went on. “And it’s become a way, a Ukrainian flag has become like a COVID mask. It’s a sign to show your virtue.”

BEN FERGUSON CO-HOST: Are there any accounting or checks and balances in place for this open-ended war? [in Ukraine]?

SEN. TED CRUZ (R-TX): … We don’t have nearly as much accountability as we need. … The Biden administration is not providing the missiles that could take out those Iranian drones. Their [the Biden admin’s] Priority is to kiss up to the Ayatollah. However, billions going to Ukraine for support and general economic purposes are not going toward weapons or ammunition. Instead, there is very little transparency. In the past few weeks, I have met with an ambassador from a NATO member country and European country near Ukraine. We spent a lot of time discussing the current status of the Ukrainian war. The warning that I gave to Ambassador was that I don’t think Congress will be able to tolerate an unrestricted commitment to the Ukraine war is fading fast. With a Republican majority in Congress, I believe you will see more scrutiny of where funds are going. There will be an interest in providing actual weaponry for the Ukrainians to use as ammunition and weapons of defense. I believe there will be little interest in the government of Ukraine receiving unrestrained checks. My view is that the priority should be on our national strategic goal. … For the Democrats, this has become a virtue signal. The Democrats wear a Ukrainian flag. Zelensky is, I believe People Magazine will name him the sexiest man alive. They’re in love. A Ukrainian flag has been transformed into a COVID mask. It is a sign of your virtue.

Look at the conservative side. There are many Reagan conservatives who believe that standing up against Russia and aggression is a good thing. They want Russia to lose. Putin should lose. But as we see all these Leftist preening around with Ukrainian flags and you know, almost dancing with their fealty to him, it is driving millions of Americans away…
