Ted Cruz Blasts Biden Admin’s Afghanistan White Paper, Compares John Kirby To Notorious Propagandist

Republican Senator, Ted Cruz from Texas, criticized the recent Biden administration report on the calamitous withdrawal from Afghanistan, deeming it “revisionist history.” Cruz made the statement during his co-hosted podcast, “Verdict,” with Ben Ferguson.

Senator Cruz criticized a statement from John Kirby, White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, who claimed that the widely condemned withdrawal was not in disarray.

Kirby asserted, “For all this talk of chaos, I just didn’t see it!”

Senator Cruz countered, “Look, there is a theme across the board of this administration and this White House: They lie for a living. Whether it’s John Kirby lying about Afghanistan or Mayorkas lying in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, they are constantly lying.”

Cruz targeted Kirby’s claim that “there was a lot that went right” with the Afghanistan pullout.

“This is revising history, and it interprets it in a way that implies we should not believe our eyes when we saw it happen. I’m telling you what the official government story is,” Cruz fired back. “He’s proud of the job they did by lying to Americans. Nobody lost their job. The Secretary of defense and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs were not fired. John Kirby wasn’t fired.”

Cruz compared Kirby to “Baghdad Bob,” a nickname for former Iraq propagandist Mohammed Saeed Al-Sahaf, infamous for making outrageous false claims. As NBC News noted, as U.S. troops stormed the capital, Al-Sahaf claimed that they were “committing suicide by the hundreds on the gates of Baghdad.”

“John Kirby is like Baghdad Bob; he stands up there and spins, saying there was no chaos and everything was great, and you should be proud,” Cruz said.
