Taylor Swift Fans Recall Miscarriages Thanks To Her New Song, ‘Bigger Than The Whole Sky’

Many Taylor Swift fans are convinced that one of the new songs on her album “Midnights” is about miscarriage, and even if it’s not, they’re processing their own losses using the lyrics.

The song, “Bigger Than The Whole Sky,” is definitely about lost love of some kind. But the specific words Swift uses to convey her feelings are resonating strongly with women who have lost their unborn children

It starts off vague enough, with the lines: “Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye/You were bigger than the whole sky. You were more than just a short time/And I’ve got a lot to pine about, I’ve got a lot to live without.”

But after that, the Grammy Award winner gets a little more specific, leading fans to think the song is about losing a child who was never born.

“I’m never gonna meet/What could’ve been, would’ve been, what should’ve been you.”

Swift doesn’t have any children and has never mentioned having a miscarriage herself. However, she did say in the past that her songs are often inspired by other people’s experiences. While she didn’t address this song specifically yet, fans have flocked to social media to express their feelings about “Bigger Than The Whole Sky.”

Pro-life activist Lila Rose shared her thoughts about it on Twitter. “Listening to ‘Bigger Than The Whole Sky’ released last night by @taylorswift13, and thinking of my own miscarriage,” she wrote. “The missing never fully goes away. Not sure if that’s what you intended the song to be about, Taylor, but thank you for writing this.”

“If you ever have a loved one suffer a miscarriage & want to understand how they feel, listen to Taylor Swift’s ‘Bigger Than the Whole Sky.’ Cannot speak to whether this was her intention, but her lyrics crystallize what I & many others have experienced so eloquently,” another Twitter user wrote. “Mine was many years ago, but this song took me right back.”

“I had a miscarriage in June. I’m not over it. I’m not OK. I haven’t been able to put it into words but this song has done it for me. Of course it’s subjective but that what it means to me. Thank you @taylorswift13,” another person shared.

“I had a miscarriage this year and that song has made me sob more times than I can count,” someone else agreed. “I don’t know if that’s the reason she wrote it (if she’s been or not through that herself), but it’s so fitting it aches my heart but also gives me comfort.”
