A Shocking Revelation: Fact Checkers’ Political Donations Heavily Favor Democrats

A recent investigation conducted by The Washington Free Beacon has shed light on the political leanings of professional fact-checkers. The findings, published on Tuesday, reveal that a staggering 99.5 percent of their financial contributions were made to Democrats or liberal causes.

This revelation comes as no surprise, considering the fact-checking industry’s well-known tendency to target and, in some cases, censor conservatives.

The investigation meticulously analyzed political contributions made during the past four election cycles. It discovered that individuals identifying themselves as “fact checkers” overwhelmingly supported left-leaning causes and candidates.

During this period, fact-checkers collectively donated $22,683, with an astonishing $22,580 going towards backing Democrats or causes championed by the party.

The report from The Free Beacon highlights that socialist Vermont senator Bernie Sanders received ten times more money from fact checkers than all Republicans combined over the seven-year period.

Notably, fact-checkers from prominent media outlets like the New York Times and Reuters contributed to President Joe Biden, failed South Carolina Democratic Senate candidate Jaime Harrison, and liberal Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign.

The investigation also revealed that fact-checkers employed by Big Tech giants such as Facebook and Google also favored Democrats in their financial contributions.

Interestingly, one female Google employee who made a donation to a Republican candidate chose to remain anonymous in the campaign finance disclosure, listing her address as “123 No Name Drive.”

Furthermore, employees of Appen Global, the company hired by Facebook to build its fact-checking apparatus, exclusively donated to Democrats and liberal causes.

Cecilia Nowell, a fact-checker for The New York Times, made three separate donations to Warren’s ill-fated 2020 presidential bid, according to the report.

In total, fact-checkers from 40 different groups or organizations were found to have donated their money to Democrats, despite being employed as unbiased guardians of truth by companies such as CBS News, Google, National Geographic, Reuters, and many others.

When approached for comment, the aforementioned outlets declined to respond to the report.

It is clear that the political affiliations of fact-checkers raise concerns about their ability to provide impartial analysis. This investigation serves as a wake-up call, urging us to question the credibility and objectivity of those entrusted with verifying the accuracy of information.
