Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, a two-time Super Bowl winner, gave the commencement speech at Georgia Institute of Technology on Saturday. The former Yellow Jackets standout shared some words of wisdom with the graduates, including some “hard truths” he planned to “pop off” during his speech.

Butker emphasized that no matter how much money or success one attains in their career, “none of it will matter if you are alone and devoid of purpose.” He then offered some poignant advice on how to have a fulfilling life, saying, “get married and start a family.” Butker added that none of his accomplishments in his career could compare to the happiness he gets from his family.

As a husband and father, Butker believes that his confidence in all aspects of his life is rooted in his marriage with his wife. He encouraged the graduating class to leave their mark on future generations by bringing children into the world, saying, “how much greater of a legacy can anyone leave than that?”

Butker’s Impressive Career

Butker is known for his impressive career as a kicker, having won two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs. He hit the go-ahead field goal for the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, helping the team defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35. But despite his success on the field, Butker believes that family is the most important thing in life.
