Sununu ‘nervous about 2024’ and wants GOP to stop whining

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu has expressed concern that the Republican Party may not perform well in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. He believes that internal bickering and the tendency of Republicans to scare away independent voters could hand victory to the Democrats once again.

Sununu participated in a forum organized by the National Rifle Association, where he highlighted the importance of bringing disenfranchised voters, including independents, back to the Republican Party. He stressed that yelling at each other within the party would not be helpful and could have disastrous consequences in the upcoming presidential election.

Sununu has been a popular governor in the state of New Hampshire and is considering running for president in 2024. However, he is concerned that former President Donald Trump may fail to defeat President Joe Biden again in the 2020 election if given the Republican nomination.

According to Sununu, the Republican Party needs to inspire voters, rather than simply yelling at them. He believes that this can be achieved by projecting a positive image and showing that party members enjoy their job. Sununu highlighted his record on firearms, emphasizing that he vetoed a red flag law and signed a constitutional carry policy. He argued that reforms to mental health treatment and stronger law enforcement were necessary to address mass shootings.

The governor’s speech at the NRA conference coincided with speeches from other potential Republican presidential candidates, such as Ron DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence.

Sununu is testing the waters in the donor community as he contemplates a run for president in 2024. He formed a political action committee titled “Live Free or Die” in February 2021. Sununu has been urging the Republican Party to focus on a forward-looking message and avoid getting side-tracked by culture war distractions.

He has suggested that instead of whining, the party needs to get to work and focus on winning elections. Sununu is concerned that the lack of unity within the party will decrease its chances of winning the presidency in 2024. He believes that unless the Republican Party can bring back independent voters and other disenfranchised factions, it may be difficult to win the next presidential election.

Sununu’s concerns about the Republican Party’s chances in 2024 are shared by other party members, including former President Donald Trump. The GOP needs to focus on adopting a positive message and appealing to a wide range of voters if it hopes to win in 2024.
