Rep. James Comer predicts subpoenas for Biden family, including Joe and Hunter.
House Republicans to Subpoena Biden Family, Including President Joe Biden and Son Hunter Biden
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer of Kentucky announced on Thursday that House Republicans are planning to subpoena members of the Biden family, including President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. The committee has been leading the investigation into Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings during his father’s vice presidency in the Obama administration.
Comer stated during an appearance on the Fox Business show “Mornings with Maria” that the committee is preparing a strong case to win in court. He emphasized that despite the opposition and obstruction from the Biden attorneys, they are determined to bring the Bidens in front of the committee.
The committee recently released bank records related to the Bidens, revealing that over $21 million flowed to Biden family members and associates from foreign businesses. Comer highlighted that Hunter Biden used his father’s position to profit from oligarchs in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine, with no evidence of providing real services.
Comer emphasized that the House Oversight Committee will continue to follow the money trail and obtain witness testimony to determine if foreign actors targeted the Bidens, if President Biden is compromised or corrupt, and if national security is threatened.
Progress in the Investigation
Comer explained that the committee’s research was a necessary prelude to issuing subpoenas. He acknowledged that if they had subpoenaed the Bidens earlier, it would have been tied up in court due to the prevailing narrative at the time. However, the committee has since disproven the media narrative and caught Joe Biden in numerous lies, strengthening their case.
Comer expressed frustration with Biden’s denial of the evidence, urging the media to question the president about the $21 million received by his family. He emphasized that the committee has concrete bank records that cannot be disputed.
Comer also mentioned that more associates of Hunter Biden will be interviewed before the committee turns its focus to the Bidens. He stated that they are communicating with several individuals and will issue subpoenas if necessary.
The congressman acknowledged the obstacles faced by the committee, including obstruction from the Department of Justice, FBI, Secret Service, IRS, and Biden family attorneys. However, he reassured that the committee continues to produce evidence every two weeks.
Unanswered Questions
When asked about specific decisions linked to the investigation, Comer highlighted the lack of sanctions against Russian oligarch Yelena Baturina, the widow of a former Moscow mayor. He pointed out that she sent $3.5 million to a company run by Hunter Biden and his associate, which was later transferred to accounts controlled by them. Comer questioned why the president did not impose sanctions on Baturina, especially considering the situation with Russia and Ukraine.
The committee’s determination to uncover the truth and hold the Bidens accountable is evident. Subpoenas are imminent, and the investigation continues to gain momentum.
