Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend: More Payments on the Way!
Exciting news for Alaska residents! Another round of one-time direct payments from the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend is on its way to those who have yet to receive their annual payment. The state Department of Revenue has announced that these payments, scheduled to be sent out on Dec. 14, will be worth $1,312 per resident for the year 2023.
Already, two large groups of eligible residents have received their checks during the first two mass disbursements on Oct. 5 and Oct. 18. Last month, another batch of payments was sent to a group of remaining residents. Now, it’s time for those who had the “Eligible-Not Paid” status on Dec. 6 to receive their 2023, or earlier, payment from the program.
Who Qualifies for the Payment?
To qualify for a payment from this program, an applicant must be an Alaska resident who intends to remain a resident of the state indefinitely and is not a convicted felon. Alaska residents can apply for these payments from Jan. 1 to March 31 of each year.
Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum expressed his gratitude to the Permanent Fund Dividend Division for their hard work in administering the program and processing the applications. He highlighted that this year, they processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022. The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state’s economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans.
The amount sent to residents from the Permanent Fund Dividend each year is based on mineral revenues for the state during that year. State officials emphasize that the program is designed to benefit both current and future generations.
