Stimulus update: Direct $500 payments for more than 300 families to be sent in 25 days

In 25 days, families receiving money from a guaranteed income program in California will receive their next payment of $500.

Sonoma County selected 305 families to receive $500 every month for two years as part of its Pathway to Income Equity program, and the next payment is scheduled for April 19. Officials will study the effects of the additional income on reducing poverty and promoting economic mobility for families with young children, according to the Sonoma County Administrator’s Office.

According to Chris Coursey, chairman of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors,” these payments will help families with young children who are frequently struggling under the double burden of high costs of housing and child care— typically the two highest household expenses.”

He stated that the knowledge we learn from this pilot course will help direct proposed initiatives to enhance our community’s health and welfare.

The Washington Examiner was informed by Angie Dillon – Shore, director of the nonprofit organization First 5 Sonoma County, that recipients would receive these payments on the fourth Wednesday of each month, with the final payment due in December 2024.
