Stimulus update: Deadline to apply for California city’s $500 guaranteed income program is eight days away

Residents of El Monte, California, have just over a week left to apply for a guaranteed income program that will give them $500 every month for a year.

For this system, which is designed for mothers in the community, 125 candidates will be chosen. According to the community, the program’s application’s period began on March 27 and will run through April 15.

A town manager position representative informed the Washington Examiner that” everyone selected to participate in the program may feel issued a debit card.” The city will charge$ 500 to the debit card each month. It can be used by people to make purchases of goods and services at any business that accepts payment accounts. Participants will receive instruction from the town on how to use their debit cards.

According to the director, the beneficiaries of this program may be chosen by April 26 and the community anticipates sending out the first transaction on June 1.

An applicant must reside within El Monte’s city’s limitations, make a single female family head with no partner or spouse, and have children under the age of 17 in order to be considered. Furthermore, applicants must be able to demonstrate a require for financial assistance due to the coronavirus pandemic, had verified income at or below the national poverty line, and submit documents proving their enrollment in school, residency, income, or government-issued ID.
