New Mexico: $1,000 stimulus check to be issued tomorrow.

New Mexico to Issue Tax Rebates to Eligible Taxpayers

New Mexico is set to provide tax rebates worth up to $1,000 to eligible taxpayers on Tuesday. This exciting initiative aims to support residents who filed their 2021 taxes. Single filers will receive $500, while married couples filing jointly will receive $1,000. The state offers the convenience of direct deposit for those who have chosen this option, with funds scheduled to be sent out on Tuesday. For others, paper checks will be printed between June 20 and 29, as reported by KOAT 7.

Governor Lujan Grisham Praises the Rebates

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) expressed her enthusiasm for the rebates, emphasizing that it is a personal priority for her. In a statement, she stated, “Prices for basic necessities continue to be high across the nation. Our state today is in a fantastic financial position, and it’s important to me that New Mexico’s families are sharing in that success.”

If taxpayers have changed their address since filing their 2021 tax return, they can easily update it using the Taxpayer Access Point self-service portal on New Mexico’s Taxation and Revenue Department website. Alternatively, they can submit a change of address form to the department. For those who have updated their banking information, the rebates will be delivered through a check in the mail.

It’s important to note that taxpayers who have not yet filed their 2021 returns still have time to do so. The deadline for filing is May 31, 2024. For further information, The Washington Examiner reached out to New Mexico’s Taxation and Revenue Department for comment.
