Program Details

The project manager for this guaranteed income program has confirmed that payments are processed on the 20th of every month, with all participants receiving $500 each month. The program is currently being evaluated by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this program, applicants had to be 18 years old by Jan. 1, 2022, have an annual income at or below 50% of the area median income for Minneapolis, and live in one of several specified ZIP codes. Additionally, applicants had to have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic, such as losing a job, having higher health expenses, or losing access to child care.

Program Demographics

80.5% of program recipients are black, indigenous, or people of color, while the remaining 19.5% are white or non-Hispanic. Women make up 69% of recipients, and 42.5% are between the ages of 30 and 39. About a third of households receiving payments have just one person.
