Starbucks faces backlash as jury determines manager’s dismissal based on race.

Starbucks Slapped with $25.6 Million Fine for Firing White Manager

Global coffee giant Starbucks received a major blow on Monday when a New Jersey federal jury ordered the company to pay a staggering $25.6 million to a former regional manager.

The jury found that Starbucks had violated the manager’s civil rights by terminating her employment following a highly publicized incident in 2018.

What was the specific civil rights violation? Shannon Phillips, a white woman, was unjustly fired because of her race.

So, how did Starbucks end up with such a hefty fine?

According to The New York Times, a seemingly minor misunderstanding escalated into a cultural battle in April 2018 when two black men entered a Philadelphia Starbucks.

One of the men requested to use the restroom, but since they hadn’t made any purchases, they were denied access.

This led to a confrontation that resulted in the arrest and removal of the two men from the premises.

The incident quickly gained attention, with critics accusing Starbucks of racism.

Instead of dismissing these claims, the coffee chain caved in and issued a public apology.

Starbucks posted a letter on social media and its website, expressing deep remorse for the incident. The company even temporarily closed 8,000 stores to provide racial bias training to its employees.

When a Twitter user demanded further action, Starbucks essentially confirmed that Phillips had been fired.

(It should also be noted that Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson, the two black men at the center of this controversy, also received confidential financial settlements with the city of Philadelphia.)

To summarize: A white woman (who wasn’t even present at the location during the incident, as the on-duty manager was black) was fired because the police were called on two black men who were loitering.

This case brings to mind the recent racially charged controversy surrounding the death of Jordan Neely, who was subdued by a white Marine Corps veteran on a New York subway.

Daniel Penny, the former Marine, now faces potential trouble for prioritizing safety while being white.

However, prioritizing safety is not a crime, regardless of how loudly leftists may protest.

Racial animus has always been the left’s go-to strategy, but now they are learning, in a very public, costly, and humiliating manner, that legally speaking, racism works both ways.

It’s not so enjoyable when the tables are turned, is it?
