Star Wars May The Fourth Tribute Excludes Disney Characters

As if the Disney sequels never happened, the official “Star Wars” Twitter page commemorated May the 4th, a.k.a. “Star Wars Day,” with a poster that excluded all characters from the new trilogy: Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, BB-8, Kylo Ren, Snoke, etc.

Take a look:

Fans immediately took notice of the glaring omission.

“Where’s the sequels,” asked one fan.

“The way y’all just don’t show the sequels kinda annoying tbh,” said another fan.

“Disappointing to see @starwars continuing to ignore the ST in marketing and merchandise. ST fans hold strong. We’ll see our beloved characters again in the future. The ST will outlast all the shallow SW media on the current slate,” tweeted another.

“Really, we’re pretending Rey and Finn don’t exist?” another said.

“Not a fan of the sequels but c’mon this is ridiculous. This is repeating the same cycle of avoidance that y’all had for the prequels, the first thing y’all did when you got the SW was cancel a show set in the prequel time period. y’all were scared to even touch them,” another protested.

“Guess I’m saving my money this year. I used to be a big spender on May 4th, but without new sequel content I have no desire to cater to this nostalgia jerkfest,” another said.

Other fans shared artwork that did feature the sequel trilogy:

Other fans welcomed the exclusion of the new trilogy, which many felt had stripped the “Star Wars” lore naked to service political correctness and social justice.

“It’s funny how quickly sequel fans are losing their minds. Legends fans had their entire universe wiped away, and we’re told to deal with it. And you all are mad about sequel characters not being included in one single photo,” said one fan, who supported the poster.

“Hahaha! I’m dying seeing all the TLJ/Reylo Fanatics going nuts, completely oblivious to the fact that there’s no videogames based on the sequel trilogy…because None of these people actually bought sequel trilogy merchandise. Their fandom ends at lecturing people on Twitter!” another said.

“For those who are wondering where Rey is she’s at the DMV changing her last name to sky walker hope that helps you st fans and stops all the complaining this tweet is getting thank you and have a lovely day may the force be with you :)” another said.

“The Rise of Skywalker,” the final film in the Disney trilogy, underperformed its two predecessors at the box office and was deemed a critical and financial disappointment. It currently holds a mediocre 6.6 rating on IMDB. The movie flopped in China, earning just a dismal $12 million dollars on its opening weekend. Conversely, “The Force Awakens” pulled in $52.3 million on its opening weekend in China with a box office total of $126 million. Other than “Rogue One,” spinoff movies such as “Solo” drastically underperformed in the overall box office, forcing LucasFilm to focus its energy on the streaming service Disney+.
