South Carolina and Nebraska move to enact new abortion limits
South Carolina and Nebraska will be the latest states to vote on their respective laws concerning abortion.
The South Carolina legislative session is set to end May 16, but it has not voted on its six-week abortion ban. Gov. Henry McMaster (R-SC) promised his Twitter followers Friday that there will be a special session to put it to a vote.

“I have called the General Assembly back for an extra legislative session to take up enhanced penalties for illegal gun possession, pass bond reform, protect life, and pass a budget,” McMaster tweeted. “The General Assembly has made progress this year, but there is still work to be done.”

When Nebraska attempted to ban abortions after six weeks, the measure failed to pass by one vote. This time, state GOP Sen. Ben Hansen has added a 12-week abortion ban to the Let Them Grow Act, a law prohibiting gender-related treatment for minors. It was introduced in January, and Hansen added his amendment Monday.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) signed a measure in April outlawing abortions in the state after six weeks of pregnancy.
