Sources: Suns Acquiring Kevin Durant in Blockbuster Deal With Nets

According to reports, Brooklyn Nets has reached an agreement to trade their superstar player. Kevin Durant Just days after Kyrie Irving was released by the franchise, the hopes of creating an enduring dynasty were ended.

Durant will be delivered to the Phoenix Suns ESPN reported that four picks from the 1st round would be offered as part of this blockbuster deal, which would have been one of most important in NBA history.

The Nets will be receiving Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson from the Nets. Jae Crowder will also be getting four first-round picks as well as additional draft compensation. Durant will be purchased by the Suns, along with TJ Warren.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported the news shortly before 2 a.m. on Thursday morning. Durant wanted to relocate to the Suns, and Mat Ishbia, the new owner, pushed for the finalization of the deal.

Wojnarowski stated that first-round picks were not protected in 2023, 2025 and 2027.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania also confirmed the trade.

Just days after Irving was transferred to the Nets, the deal is reached. Dallas Mavericks Sunday marked the beginning of a complete franchise overhaul. 

The Suns were reported as being among those teams that reached out immediately to the Nets after the Irving deal was made public Sunday. Durant also expressed an interest in them last offseason.

Irving and Durant each signed free agents deals with Brooklyn during 2019, as the two joined forces to try and build a superteam.

Later, the team added (and eventually removed) James Harden Blake Griffin and Kenny Atkinson, respectively, as they replaced Kenny Atkinson, the head coach, with Hall of Fame point guard Steve Nash, who was fired to replace Jacque Vaughn.

Durant expressed optimism regarding the direction of the franchise in an earlier interview, telling ESPN’s Rachel Nichols that he loves the team. “what we’re building” Brooklyn

“I think the culture and the spirit around the game is something we’ve tried to cultivate from Day 1,” He said it at the time. “And everybody brings their part to it. Everybody is valued. From the starting guy to the last guy on the bench, we all value each other’s input.”

However, their efforts on and off the court did not result in a title.

In the 2021-2022 playoffs the 7th-ranked Nets lost in four games to the 2nd-placers. Boston Celtics. The Suns, who topped the West with a 64-18 record in last year’s playoffs, beat the No. 8 New Orleans Pelicans lost to the No. 4 seed Dallas Mavericks in round one of the playoffs.

In the previous season, both the Suns and Nets were second in their respective conferences. 

The postseason saw both teams eliminated by the Milwaukee BucksThe Conference Semifinals saw the Nets lose to the Suns, while the NBA Finals saw the Suns win 4-2.

Durant signed a four year, $194million extension with the Nets, even though he only played 35 regular-season games in the 2020-2021 seasons. Durant was committed to the Nets through 2026. 

Durant led the Nets in scoring with 29.7 per game during the 2022-2023 seasons. He was also ranked second for blocks (1.5), assists (5.3) and rebounds (6.7). Durant is ahead of Irving in every category, but tied for assists.

Durant will now join the Suns’ Devin Booker and Deandre ayton as well as Chris Paul.

Durant was previously a player with the Oklahoma City Thunder between 2008 and the 2015-2016 season. Durant joined the NFL in 2016. Golden State Warriors Two NBA titles (2017 and 2018) were won by the team during the 2016-2017 season.

A mega also prompts the trade. three-team deal Russell Westbrook, the Los Angeles Lakers’ star forward, was named. It comes just hours ahead of the 2023 NBA trade deadline which will end at 3 p.m. on Thursday. ET.

Brooklyn currently has a 32-22 record and is 5th in Eastern Conference. Phoenix holds a 30-26 record, ranking them 5th in West.
