U.S. Attorney Resigns After Leaking Sensitive Information to Help Ally

A shocking revelation has come to light this week as reports from federal investigators have concluded that U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins repeatedly leaked damaging information to a reporter at the Boston Herald about a political candidate to help an ally and then lied about it to federal investigators. What’s more, Rollins was backed by Democrat megadonor George Soros.

Leaked Sensitive Information

The investigations from the Office of Special Counsel and the DOJ inspector general said Rachael Rollins leaked sensitive, non-public information in the primary election for Suffolk district attorney. She favored Ricardo Arroyo over Kevin Hayden.

Extraordinary Abuse of Authority

Special Counsel Henry Kerner wrote in his report to President Joe Biden, “Ms. Rollins’s conduct in leaking non‐public DOJ information constitutes an extraordinary abuse of her authority and threatens to erode public confidence in the integrity of federal law enforcement actions.”

Violation of Federal Regulations

DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz wrote in his report, “We found Rollins’s conduct described throughout this report violated federal regulations, numerous DOJ policies, her Ethics Agreement, and applicable law, and fell far short of the standards of professionalism and judgment that the Department should expect of any employee, much less a U.S. Attorney.”

Resignation and Criminal Prosecution

Rollins will submit her resignation to Biden by the end of the week, her attorney Michael Bromwich said. Horowitz referred Rollins’ alleged false statements to the DOJ for criminal prosecution, but the department ultimately “declined prosecution,” the report said.

Blistering Statement from Sen. Tom Cotton

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) issued a blistering statement slamming Democrat senators for not listening to warnings from Republican lawmakers about the dangers of confirming Rollins as a U.S. Attorney. “I warned Rachael Rollins was unfit to serve as a U.S. Attorney. Now she’s resigning in disgrace. Good riddance,” he said.
