A million tourists are anticipated to flood into the area on both sides of the border. Normally, the town sees 14 million guests over the course of a year. As a result, hotels have raised their prices, which are normally $70 to $140 a night, to upward of $730.
“We expect the eclipse to bring the largest influx of visitors we’ve ever seen to Niagara Falls USA,” President and CEO of Destination Niagara USA John Percy said.
Some tourists saw their reservations, made a year in advance, canceled. Guests reported to a local outlet that even though they successfully booked rooms at the Wyndham Garden Niagara Falls Fallsview for a reasonable price of $73 per night, their reservations were revoked “due to an unforeseen extension in the stay duration of a large group currently accommodated at our hotel.”
“We are facing constraints regarding room availability. Regrettably, this means we must cancel your reservation,” an email to guests read.
New York City will be sending a vintage train from the city to Niagara Falls that tourists can book for $4,000 a person. The train is a two-car train that can sleep a total of 21 guests in its respective cars. Tickets include drinks, meals, and a pair of eclipse glasses over the three-day trip.

At most, the eclipse will last four minutes beginning about a quarter after 3 p.m. Eastern.
The next time a solar eclipse will be visible from the U.S. will be on Aug. 23, 2044.
