Social Security update: $914 direct payment arrives in 9 days.
Get Ready for Your Second SSI Payment This Month!
Exciting news! In just nine days, recipients of the Social Security Administration’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program will receive their second payment for the month of June. And guess what? It could be worth up to $914 for individual filers!
The payment is scheduled to go out on Friday, June 30, making it the second check you’ll receive this month. The first payment was already sent on June 1.
What You Need to Know About Your Payment
Now, let’s talk numbers. The amount you’ll receive depends on your filing status. If you file individually, you can expect a maximum monthly payment of $914. Eligible couples can receive up to $1,371, while essential persons who provide necessary care to SSI recipients will get $458 per month.
But why are you getting two payments this month? Well, it’s all because of a small quirk in the SSA’s schedule. When the first of the following month falls on a weekend, you get two checks in the previous month. In this case, your second payment for June is taking the place of July’s payment since July 1 falls on a Saturday this year.
Don’t worry, though. The SSA has adjusted the schedule to ensure that you still receive 12 checks per year. So, in some months, like March, June, September, and December, you’ll get two payments. In other months, when the first of the month falls on a weekend or is a holiday, you won’t receive any additional payments.
What is SSI and Who Qualifies?
Now, let’s clarify what SSI is all about. SSI payments are given in addition to regular Social Security benefits and are specifically designed to support adults and children with blindness or other disabilities and limited income.
To qualify for SSI, you must be over 65, partially blind, or have a physical or mental condition that seriously limits your daily activities for at least 12 months or is expected to result in death.
So mark your calendars and get ready for that extra payment on June 30! It’s just one of the many ways the SSA is here to support you.
