Those who receive Supplemental Security Income are set to get their second of two September payments three weeks from Friday.

People who are eligible will receive their payment of $841 on Sept. 30, leading to a total of $1,682 for the month after receiving an initial payment at the beginning of September, according to the Social Security Administration. The two payments help offset the months in which no money is sent out to make sure people have 12 payments each year, according to SSA’s schedule.

SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENT 2022: SECOND HALF OF MONTHLY $1,682 CHECKS TO BE SENT IN JUST WEEKS

September is one of three months in the year in which recipients are sent two SSI payments. The other months with two installments are April and December, which offset January, May, and October for the 2022 calendar year since the first day of those months fell on a holiday or a weekend.

Couples in the SSI program will receive two payments of $1,261 during September. Essential persons, defined as those who live with an SSI recipient and provide necessary care, will get two payments of $421 that will be paid out on the same days.

The agency has issued SSI payments to eligible individual recipients and couples since January 1974, providing financial relief for those with limited resources. According to Nexstar Media Wire, Social Security will be unable to pay out in full by 2035 at the current rate.

Next year, Social Security payments are likely to increase based on inflation, analysts say. Some, however, may end up earning less than what they currently receive as the payment boost could make them qualify for a higher tax bracket.
